Tips for Inviting Speakers

Always remember that your speaker is a volunteer.  Consider the speaker when you are setting up your program schedule.  In particular consider the following:

• Is your speaker staying the night before the program?  You may want them first on the program so they can get back home that day.
• Is your speaker driving in for the day?  If it is an evening program put them on early so they don't get back home after midnight.  If it is a hamfest or other daytime program, put them on just before or after noon so they won't be rushed.
• Is your speaker staying the night of the program?  You may want them last in the program so they won't have to rush to get there.

First and foremost ask the speaker what they prefer.  Also check to see what visual aids they will need.  A little consideration can go a long way in encouraging speakers to make your program.
